The New Zealand Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers' Association was established in 1998 at ConStruction, the national science fiction convention. Since then, members of NZSFW have been involved in running writing workshops and organising the short story competition at ConQuest II. Our aims are to encourage and promote science fiction and fantasy writing by and for New Zealanders. To this end, we have established this website and will also be sending out a regular newsletter (largely replicating the information on the website) to those members who do not have internet access.
Initially, this website will include information about magazine guidelines, market information, relevant writing resources and known SF/F writing groups in New Zealand. People may also use our notice board service to establish their own local group or contact others interested in being part of a critique group via email/snail mail. We will be adding interviews (with writers, publishers and other people of interest) and articles on relevant aspects of writing, as well as details of competitions and writing workshops. Possibilities for the future include co-operative publishing projects and mediated showcasing of material on our site. If you have any relevant information, suggestions or feedback to contribute, please send it to the webmaster.
